Love Superhero Movies? Here’s What 2020 Has In Store for You

If you’re a fan of superhero movies, get ready to be thrilled in 2020. While this year has been quite challenging thus far, the long list of Marvel and DC movies on the horizon promises to offer a place of temporary refuge. Keep in mind that release dates may change as a result of the challenges related to the coronavirus.

The New Mutants (April 2020)

The New Mutants movie was adapted from The New Mutants comic series. The characters in this movie are desperately seeking freedom after being locked inside of a secret facility. This movie is a mix of horror and science fiction. The cast of The New Mutants includes Charlie Heaton, Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy.

Black Widow (May 2020)

Hitting theaters in the Spring of 2020 is Black Widow with Cate Shortland as the first solo female director within the Marvel community. This is a standalone movie that fans have been wanting for some time now. In fact, it’s been anticipated since Natasha Romanoff was in Iron Man 2, which was a decade ago. Black Widow is based on what happened after Captain America: Civil War. You’ll get to see what occurs when a former KGB assassin is forced to face her past. The cast includes David Harbour, Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh.

Wonder Woman 1984 (June 2020)

Patty Jenkins is telling the story of Wonder Woman in 1984. Gal Gadot will again play the role of Wonder Woman and Chris Pine is returning as Steve Trevor. Many fans are excited about the fact that Kristin Wiig is playing the role of Cheetah, which is a villain in the film. Wiig doubles in the role of Barbara Minerva. Maxwell Lord, a businessman with no moral compass, is played by Pedro Pascal.

Morbius (July 2020)

Michael Morbius is a doctor that is attempting to find a cure for his rare blood disease. In the process, he ends up taking on the traits of a vampire, which involves a desire for human blood. This role is played by Jared Leto and the movie is directed by Daniel Espinosa. The co-star of the movie is Matt Smith.

The King’s Man (September 2020)

If you like period pieces, you’ll probably enjoy The King’s Man. It’s a prequel to the Kingsman and stars Ralph Fiennes who plays the Duke of Oxford. His protege is played by Harris Dickinson. This movie involves an effort to prevent a deadly war. Like other Marvel films, there have been delays and the 2020 release date is more than a year out from the original release timeframe. The King’s Man is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Venom 2 (October 2020)

On the heels of the original Venom blockbuster, Kelly Marcel wrote Venom 2. Carnage, the villain of the movie, is played by Woody Harrelson. Shriek is played by Naomie Harris. Venom 2 promises to be just as unstoppable as the original, despite having a new director.

The Eternals (November 2020)

Written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, The Eternals is a movie that spans across a 7,000-year period and is directed by Chloe Zhao. The story is about an alien race that’s immortal and it chronicles their life events. The role of Thena is played by Angelina Jolie, Ikaris is played by Richard Madden, Ajak is played by Salma Hayek and Brian Tyree Henry was cast as Phastos. Additionally, Kumail Nanjiani plays Kingo and Gemma Chan plays Sersi. This is a remarkable cast and a movie you don’t want to miss.

Are you excited about the new superhero movies on the horizon? You should be because there’s a lot going on in the world of comics. This is a wonderful thing since movies can provide people with an opportunity to momentarily forget about what’s happening in the world. Even if many of these films are delayed, consider streaming some of your favorite comics of years past. It’s fun to reminisce while enjoying some of your favorite films. Pull out a classic comic and recommend it to friends and family.

You might be interested to know that there are many other films on the horizon beyond 2020. In fact, 2021 looks just as promising. One of the many films that’s currently in production and scheduled for release in 2021 is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings written by Dave Callahan and Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The cast includes Awkwafina, Simu Liu and Tony Leung. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness directed by Sam Raimi is another noteworthy superhero film on the horizon. This film stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen.
